The following are examples of some typical job costs:

Scenario 1: Convert Existing Network to Broadband
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The client has an existing network and wishes to connect all stations to a new or existing DSL / Broadband connection.

We would typically install a DSL router and re-configure the PC's for the new IP subnet

Parts - $100

Labor - $75 to $150

Scenario 2: Establish Shared Internet Access
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The client has 2 PC's at home, DSL or Broadband and wants to share the Internet access.

In a simple installation we would typically install a multi-port DSL router, run cables to the PC's and configure. This quote assumes the PC have Ethernet adapters.

Parts - $135

Labor - $75

In a more demanding installation, running the cable over longer distances or utilizing wireless networking technology can drive up costs.

Parts - $150 to $650

Labor - $150 to $600

Scenario 3: Hard drive failing (but not dead).
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Upgrade drive (to 30GB ATA100), controller card and clone old drive.

Parts - $135 (less if the system will support the drive unaided)

Labor - $75 to $150

Scenario 4: Hard drive failed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Replace drive, controller card (if necessary), re-install operating system.

Parts - $235 (includes operating system)

Labor - $75 to 150 (more if we install other software, etc)

Note: Systems that come with restoration disks may reduce labor costs
